There is something weird about columns in newspapers and magazines. At least, it has a strange effect on me.
For there was a time when I used to scan newspapers for relevant and interesting information: articles about new digital developments or background articles about their impact on society, articles on (sub) cultures, (digital) trends and creative technology. With the exception of the columns, written by Bas Heijne, Sheila Sitalsing and Youp in the Dutch newspapers #NRC and #Volkskrant, I did not read any other columns at all.
Some time ago this strangely has changed. What the reason was and when that transformation took place, I don’t know anymore. What I do know is that Columns slowly crept into my life. Before I knew it, I was only reading columns.
Suddenly I caught myself early in the morning scanning newspapers and magazines for columns, written by people; often kind of celebrities, who generally do not interest me very much, on subject matters that interest me even less. Can you imagine? I don’t know if you realize how many columns appear on a daily basis in newspapers and magazines. Believe me, it really is a big deal.
What is this for idiotic development? Why am I doing this? Do you know how much time I have lost with this nonsense? I’m not using Facebook anymore, or instagram or snapchat, instead I am chained to stupid columns. What a waste of time !!!
Anyway, what I wonder: Am I the only one who has a #columnaddiction? Or do I have to put on my aluminum foil hat, because more people are bothered by this?
I'm really curious. Please use #columnaddiction.
And as from today: I returned to my once regular reading process. Such a much better and interesting beginning of the day.
